Recently, Meghan Markle graced the cover of a prominent magazine without any makeup, which seems to have triggered a significant response online.
The 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex is featured on the cover of the December 2025/January 2026 issue of Harper’s Bazaar US. Many people quickly noticed her natural look and began to critique her decision to go makeup-free, while others speculated that it might have been the magazine’s choice instead.
“Harper’s Bazaar and the photographer must really dislike Meghan Markle. I can’t fathom any magazine or photographer allowing these images to appear on a cover,” one individual commented.
“I think they forgot the airbrush,” another person remarked.
In the photo, Markle donned a black silk blazer with a cinched waist, a flared hem, and a bow detail tying it together at the front. She was seated on a stool against a grayscale backdrop.
The cover headline read, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment. The accompanying story features an unfiltered interview with journalist Kaitlyn Greenidge, where Meghan openly discusses various aspects and details of her life.
She shares her love story with Prince Harry, her lifestyle brand As Ever, and her experiences in the royal household, including the decision
In the interview, the Duchess looked back on her life and how she has evolved as a person after facing various controversies since her engagement to Prince Harry. She emphasized the significance of establishing ‘boundaries.’

“I believe my boundaries became more defined once I entered the public eye… You discover different methods to safeguard yourself, whether it’s about self-preservation or simply maturing,” she expressed.
When questioned about her past regrets, Markle stated, “You learn not to repeat the same mistakes.”
“If everything goes perfectly, you don’t gain any insights. If you don’t learn anything, you won’t grow,” she reflected.
Regarding public opinion, many people criticized her appearance, with one individual accusing her of imitating other celebrities who go without makeup, saying, “Pamela Anderson wannabe.”
Another commented, “Can we discuss her hairline? It happens to the best of us- but ideally not on a magazine cover. Photoshop anyone?”
Yet another remarked, “The haggard look with the dead eyes of a soulless shark.”
In the narrative, Kaitlyn begins by recounting her meeting with Markle at a friend’s residence on the Upper East Side in New York City. She wrote, “Upon my arrival, the house manager announces, ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,’ even though it seems we are the only two people present.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry declared their intention to step back from royal duties in the latter part of 2020. Since then, the couple has moved to California, where they are now raising their two children.
Although the couple is no longer performing royal duties, they have retained their titles of Duke and Duchess. However, they can no longer use their His/Her Royal Highness titles.
On the other hand, some people really loved the cover and found it appealing. One individual commented, “I absolutely love this cover! It perfectly captures both strength and vulnerability.”
Another person mentioned, “I adore this cover. Many of the fashion shows I didn’t initially appreciate have turned out to be fantastic in editorials.”
