One positive aspect of the rise of social media is the incredible speed at which we can now share information.
This also means that warnings about potential dangers can circulate rapidly, theoretically enhancing our safety.

A notable alert came from a mother a few years back, whose son had picked up some tree branches one day and subsequently developed a strange, red mark on his skin resembling a grid.
He was rushed to the emergency room shortly thereafter. Andrea Pergola now aims to inform everyone about something that could potentially save lives.
Logan, 15, experienced a sharp, stinging sensation when something hit him while he was collecting tree branches for his volunteer work.
In just a few minutes, his arm showed a red, grid-like mark that quickly evolved into a severe rash. The rash soon became intensely painful, spreading from his arm to his chest.
Moreover, Logan became pale and felt lightheaded. In an attempt to eliminate the poison, his mother cleaned the area and applied garlic (which is commonly thought to help with insect stings).
Unfortunately, despite her efforts, nothing seemed to make a difference.

Logan’s grandfather discovered the insect that had stung him. After donning heavy gloves, he placed it in a bag for a closer examination.
It was a fluffy and somewhat “adorable” caterpillar. Surprisingly, it was also one of the most poisonous caterpillars found in North America.
Through her online research, Andrea concluded that she had to take Logan to the emergency room immediately.
Andrea shared a post on Facebook, encouraging everyone to “look into this caterpillar, stay informed about it, and educate your children about it.”

“It is not native to Florida, but to Texas, and just happens to live here now. Please if you are stung or your kid is stung get to the ER and let them treat you. I can assure you — we didn’t realize he had been stung so many times and normal over-the-counter Benadryl would not have treated this at home.”
