While traveling through Cambodia with a group, Elliot Costello encountered a young girl named Thea.
Elliot had no idea that this meeting would profoundly impact him, motivating him to start a campaign against the sexual abuse of minors.
Thea painted her nails daily. During a conversation, she requested Elliot to paint one of his nails. He agreed and enjoyed chatting with her, only to discover later that she had been a victim of sexual assault.

Elliot declared that while she painted one of my nails, he vowed to always keep it that way to remember her, and by extension, her suffering.
Elliot found motivation in this to advocate for changing men’s mindsets in order to decrease the prevalence of child sexual abuse.
He then launched the #PolishedMan movement, encouraging men to paint one of their nails. This single painted nail symbolizes the one in five children who will face sexual assault.
The Polished Man organization is dedicated to putting an end to sexual violence against children. They believe that being a Polished Man involves standing up against violent behavior and language, whether it’s on a local or global scale.
According to Elliott, men should take the lead in driving reform to end the abuse of vulnerable children, as they are responsible for 96% of this type of violence globally.

The painted nail aims to initiate conversations about the widespread issue of child abuse and encourage new prevention methods, serving more than just a visual cue. Furthermore, he encourages individuals to contribute to “educational programs and resources for child abuse survivors,” as reported by APlus.
We genuinely wish that more individuals, including well-known figures, will choose to back this cause.
