Donald and Melania Trump typically don’t display much affection for one another in public. Yet, just last week, they shared a kiss on stage, and the official White House X account shared a photo of them holding hands. Nevertheless, social media erupted over the post, labeling it as ‘the worst attempt at damage control.’
The marriage of Donald and Melania Trump has always been a topic of strong feelings. Reports have suggested that their relationship is struggling.

For instance, Michael Wolff, an author known for his books about Trump, has claimed that Melania ‘hates’ her husband, which has contributed to the negative perception.
A New York Times article from May 2025 indicated that Melania had only spent 14 days at the White House since moving there in January, which further fueled rumors about their lack of affection.
However, in the past week, Donald and Melania have publicly displayed affection for each other multiple times. When the President and First Lady signed the executive order ‘Fostering the Future for American Children and Families’ on November 13, they were photographed sharing a kiss.
Social media is buzzing after the White House shares a photo of Donald and Melania sharing a kiss and holding hands.
Following the first lady’s speech, which was met with applause, Trump leaned in to kiss Melania, expressing, “Thank you, Melania, our nation is indeed fortunate to have such a wonderful and compassionate First Lady.”
The White House posted a photo of the couple kissing the next day, captioned “I can’t help falling in love with you.” Just two days later, another image was released showing Donald and Melania holding hands, with the caption “America’s power couple.”
Donald Trump remains in the spotlight due to his ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. On November 12, over 20,000 pages of documents from Epstein’s estate were made public. One email from Epstein stated, “I want you to understand that the dog that hasn’t barked is Trump..[Victim] spent hours at my house with him.”

Donald Trump referred to the released document as a “manufactured hoax,” but he has recently shifted his position, encouraging House Republicans to vote for its release.
“Worst attempt at damage control in human history”
The timing of the images featuring him and Melania shared through official White House channels has caused a stir on social media.
“Worst attempt at damage control in human history,” one user remarked.
“This is the first time I’ve ever seen them this close. It must be way worse,” another user noted.
A third user questioned, “Doesn’t this make it look worse?” while a fourth added, “WH needs a better intern.”
A fifth user commented, “Laughable. That moment should be preserved like King Tut’s crown…something that wasn’t seen for thousands of years.”
