When we love watching an actor in nearly every film they feature in, we begin to feel as though we know them on a personal level. The issue is, we might actually know very little about their lives and history.
One actor who has captured the hearts of many over the years is Liam Neeson. He has starred in some of the most iconic films in Hollywood, such as Taken, Star Wars, Schindler’s List, and many others.
He even received an Oscar nomination for his performance in Schindler’s List, and he has recently entered his 70s. However, that doesn’t imply he is slowing down, as in 2022, he starred in two new action films, Backlight and Memory.
What many people might not realize about Liam Neeson is that he had a challenging childhood. He was raised during the war in a small Irish town, and those experiences continue to affect him to this day.
In a recent interview, he reflected on the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, a tragic event when 13 individuals lost their lives during the conflict. He remarked: “We all would like to get the last word but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the last word is going to be the right word. At times, we may start something and we don’t quite know how it is going to end.”
At the age of nine, he began boxing and remained in the sport until he turned 17. He valued the respect that came with wearing his boxing gloves.
One interesting fact that many people might not know about Liam Neeson is that he once drove a forklift truck and hitchhiked home just to participate in a play. He was accustomed to hard work, and it was evident.
Neeson shared 16 wonderful years with his wife, Natasha Richardson, until a heartbreaking accident took her from him. They even performed together in a Broadway production, and he mentioned that they had a remarkable chemistry.
Tragically, his wife passed away in a skiing accident in Canada in 2009. According to a private agreement they had, he expressed his love for her before she left this world.
Following her death, he struggled with a drinking issue but ultimately chose to stop. He still enjoys a glass of wine occasionally, but he has avoided hard liquor and beer ever since.
Without a doubt, he has faced many challenges in life, yet he has persevered and built a solid reputation for himself. We look forward to seeing much more of him in the years to come.
