A recent viral TikTok video has ignited discussions around body positivity, challenging conventional beauty standards and emphasizing the significance of loving the skin you’re in.
The popular video showcases Gillian, a self-assured plus-size woman, confidently expressing herself and celebrating her individuality, especially regarding her fashion choices.

“I’m a fatty and wear what I want in my pool. I don’t care if it makes my neighbors uncomfortable,” she shared with the Scottish Sun. The title of her video was: “What I wear in my pool that makes my neighbour feel uncomfortable.”
In her video, Gillian – known as @spanxbeluga – flaunts her fearless approach to poolside fashion, switching from a vibrant orange summer dress to a soft blue bikini.
Although Gillian often faces criticism for her fashion choices, she has expressed her dedication to demonstrating that everyone should have the freedom to express themselves through clothing without fear of judgment from others.
In reply to a remark about modesty, where someone claimed that modesty is no longer relevant, Gillian humorously stated that it “should have been gone a long time ago.”
However, Gillian’s comments section is also filled with positivity, as many people commend and admire her confidence. Some even suggested that her neighbor’s criticism of her fashion might be rooted in jealousy.
Gillian addresses the matter clearly, stressing that her intention is not to make anyone uncomfortable, but she believes she should be free to wear what brings her happiness and confidence.

“I don’t aim to make anyone feel uneasy. People feel that way because I choose to wear what I like, and I happen to be a larger person,” she stated, according to the Scottish Sun. “It’s not my responsibility. I refuse to hide my body. I simply won’t cover up for anyone. That’s not my identity. I won’t feel ashamed of my appearance,” she continued.
Gillian expressed that she is content with herself and her reflection, stating: “I feel at ease in my own skin, and I dress how I wish. Fashion is a means of self-expression, and I want to wear what I enjoy, and that’s just how I operate. Society won’t dictate my choices.”
