J.K. Rowling has openly expressed her views on transgender individuals. In recent years, she has emerged as one of the most prominent critics of trans rights in the United Kingdom.
The well-known fantasy author firmly believes that trans women should not be considered equivalent to those who are biologically female. She argues that policies or laws permitting this equivalence are harmful to women’s rights.
Rowling does not hold back when addressing anyone she perceives as a trans woman. She has specifically targeted Olympic boxer Imane Khelif, whom she believes to be a trans woman, referring to Khelif as male on multiple occasions. Consequently, after Khelif’s Olympic victory, she initiated a lawsuit for cyber harassment, naming Rowling as one of the defendants.
The original cast of the Harry Potter series, including actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, have all publicly stated their opposition to Rowling’s stance on trans individuals.
The author has now revealed her intention to establish a private foundation that she claims will “provide legal funding support to individuals and organizations working to uphold women’s sex-based rights in the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces.” She plans to allocate the funds generated from her royalties and other sources to support this initiative.
After a decision was made that restricted rights for trans individuals in the United Kingdom, Rowling shared a photo of herself holding a celebratory drink and cigar, captioned, “I love it when a plan comes together.”
Additionally, she has established a fund to provide women with legal financial support in their battles for sex-based rights at work.
The author also supports several organizations, such as ‘For Women Scotland’, which is quite outspoken regarding their views on trans women and individuals assigned male at birth.
Overall, it appears that J.K. Rowling is determined to stand firm in her beliefs and is committed to supporting them financially.
