In Puerto Rico, 16-year-old Gabriela Nicole Pratts Rosario was tragically killed on August 10 in Aibonito.
The fatal stabbing, witnessed by her mother Lisandra Rosario, followed a fight involving Gabriela’s former friend,
17-year-old Anthonieshka Avilés Cabrera, and Cabrera’s mother, Elvia Cabrera Rivera.
Gabriela was stabbed eight times defending her sister.
Both suspects face first-degree murder charges and $1 million bail. Anthonieshka will be tried as an adult.
The case has sparked island-wide grief and outrage.
Gabriela, remembered as kind and compassionate, has become a symbol in calls for justice and an end to youth violence.
